Why aren't you pausing at punctuation marks? Lets hear it from Annu.

Last week I took 48 hours of online sessions and it is somewhat exhausting.

But as many of you know I’m passionate about your scores and nothing excites me more than hearing about someone achieving their scores.

Oh! and before i start talking. I would like to welcome the test takers who have recently joined ptemocktest.com.

Who am I & Why I am talking to you?

Well My name is Rubbal & I am a coach at ptemocktest.com.

I’m here to join your journey, share experiences, and help you clear your PTE Exam.

So where was I?

Ah yes! So last week I took 48 hours of online sessions but there is one session that i am particularly going to talk about.

I am taking sessions with a student named Annu. She is from India and she is preparing for her third attempt. She is looking to score 70+ .

I have just started my sessions with her and we were doing Read Aloud task type with her and at one point this how our conversation went.

Me: So Annu, Why aren’t you pausing at punctuation marks?

Annu : Mam, I am pausing, but i am pausing only when there is a full stop.

Me: What about the other punctuations?

Annu: Mam, Before my second attempt i was taking classes somewhere and they told me to pause only when there is a full stop. (do remember that Annu is preparing for her third attempt),

Me : SPEECHLESS….. THINKING…… But dear, that is a wrong strategy, how will the AI know about the other punctuation pauses and you will score in less in Oral Fluency.

Well, I fixed her strategy, and we went on with the sessions.

But, the question is who is at loss here, A test taker who is going for her third attempt because of these reckless , untested strategies or the coach who will be forever remembered for teaching the wrong stuff.

And by the way if you are thinking

“SHOULD YOU PAUSE ONLY FOR FULL STOP OR EVERY PUNCTUATION?“

The answer is you have to pause at every punctuation mark, the interval of pause can vary, like it will be slightly longer in case of full stop, but smaller in case of comma.

Annu is going for her exam on 11th July, and i really hope i get to talk about her fantastic scores with you all.

Oh! And i have three more slots opening from coming Thursday.

These are the slots
